Notifications for new releases
Manga Vault can send you a push notification when a new volume of a series you follow becomes available. You won’t miss a release ever again.
Turning release notifications on
Release notifications are controlled in two places: a global toggle in Settings, and a per-screen toggle on the Releases calendar.
Global toggle (Settings)
- Open Settings.
- Tap Push Notifications to expand notification preferences.
- Make sure the master Push Notifications toggle is on.
- Make sure Release Notifications is on.
Per-screen toggle (Releases calendar)
When you visit the Releases calendar, you’ll see a Release Notifications toggle near the top. Tap it to enable or disable release alerts. The setting is the same as the one in Settings — toggling here updates Settings too.
What you’ll get notified about
When release notifications are on, you’ll receive a push when a new volume drops for any series you collect (i.e., a series where you own at least one volume — see My Series vs All Releases).
The notification looks something like:
“New release: Spy x Family Vol. 13 is out today.”
Tapping the notification opens the series page so you can add the volume to your wishlist or collection.
Phone-level permission
For Manga Vault to send any notification, your phone must allow it.
iOS
Settings → Manga Vault → Notifications → Allow Notifications: On.
Android
Settings → Apps → Manga Vault → Notifications → Allow.
If notifications are blocked at the OS level, the in-app toggles won’t fire anything.
Quiet Hours
Manga Vault has a Quiet Hours feature in Settings — Push Notifications → Quiet Hours. During your quiet-hours window, friend, achievement, and release notifications pause and deliver after the window ends. Useful for avoiding overnight buzzes.
(Some notifications, like overdue lending reminders, may still ride through if they’re time-sensitive.)
Why I’m not getting notifications
A few common reasons:
- Phone permission off — Check OS-level notification settings (see above).
- Master toggle off in Manga Vault — Settings → Push Notifications.
- Release Notifications category off — Toggle it on.
- No qualifying releases — You only get notifications for series you collect. If a release isn’t from one of your followed series, no notification fires.
- Quiet Hours active — Notifications during quiet hours are deferred to after the window.
Why I’m getting too many notifications
If your collection covers a lot of series, releases can stack up. Options:
- Turn off Release Notifications — Toggle off entirely.
- Use Quiet Hours — Confine notifications to a window of your day.
- Be selective about what you collect — If a series releases monthly and you never finish them, consider moving them to your Wishlist (which doesn’t trigger release notifications).
Tip
Release notifications are most useful for collectors actively keeping pace with ongoing series. If you mostly buy completed series, you may prefer to leave release notifications off and check the Releases calendar manually when you’re ready to shop.
