The Achievement Unlocked modal

When you unlock an achievement, Manga Vault celebrates it with a brief modal that pops up over your current screen.

What it looks like

A modal slides into view with:

A celebratory header — “Achievement Unlocked!”
The achievement’s icon
The achievement’s name
A short description of what you did
The XP earned
An Awesome! button to dismiss

When it shows up

The modal appears when:

You perform an action that unlocks an achievement.
The unlock is recognized by our backend (usually within a few seconds of the qualifying action).
You’re on a screen where the modal can safely interrupt (most main screens).

If multiple achievements unlock simultaneously (e.g., adding a 50th volume might trigger both “50 volumes” and a milestone Bookworm), the modals stack — you’ll see one, dismiss it, and see the next.

When it suppresses

The modal doesn’t show during:

Sign-in or sign-out flows (we suppress so it doesn’t interrupt).
Onboarding (first-time tour).
During active scanning (so we don’t disrupt batch scans).
When you’re not authenticated (no modals on the login screen).

If achievements unlock during a suppressed period, they’re queued and shown the next time you’re in a suitable state.

iOS announcement (accessibility)

For VoiceOver users, the modal announces the achievement when it appears, so you don’t miss it.

Dismissing

Tap Awesome! to dismiss. The modal slides out and the next achievement (if any) appears.

You can also tap outside the modal to dismiss in some cases — the dismiss gesture varies by context.

Don’t worry — the achievement is still unlocked even if you didn’t see the modal. To verify:

Open the Social tab → View All Achievements.
Tap the Unlocked tab.
Recently-unlocked achievements appear at the top.

You can also see your total Unlocked count in the Achievements screen header.

The modal doesn’t currently have a built-in share button. To share:

Take a screenshot of the modal.
Send via your phone’s share / messaging apps.

We may add native sharing in a future update.

Privacy

The Achievement Unlocked modal is purely local — friends don’t see when you unlock something in real-time. Achievements appear in your friend-visible profile after you’ve earned them, but there’s no live notification to friends.

Why I see Achievement Unlocked when I didn’t do anything new

Sometimes achievements unlock retroactively — for example, after a sync that pulls in data from another device, the system catches up on achievements you’d already qualified for.

If you see modals fire during sign-in or right after, it’s typically retroactive. Subsequent normal use will only show modals for genuinely new unlocks.

Tip

If you find the modals interruptive, you can quickly dismiss them with a tap on Awesome!. They’re brief by design — we don’t want them to feel intrusive.
