Adding a manga to one or more shelves

There are three ways to assign a volume (or many volumes) to a shelf.

Method 1 — From the manga detail page

The most common way, when you’re viewing a single volume.

1. Tap a volume in your Library (or anywhere) to open its detail page.
2. Scroll to the Shelves section near the bottom.
3. Tap Add to Shelf (or Manage Shelves if the volume is already on a shelf).
4. The shelf bottom sheet appears, showing all your shelves.
5. Tap one or more shelves to select them. Checkmarks appear.
6. Tap Done.

The volume is now on every shelf you selected. Shelf badges appear on the manga detail page.

Method 2 — Bulk-assign from your Library

Best when you want to assign many volumes at once.

1. In your Library, long-press any volume to enter selection mode.
2. Tap other volumes to add them to the selection.
3. Tap the Shelf icon in the bulk actions bar.
4. The shelf picker appears.
5. Pick one or more shelves.
6. Tap Add to N Shelves.

All selected volumes are added to all selected shelves. See Bulk-assigning manga to shelves.

Method 3 — From the shelf detail screen

If you want to view a shelf and add to it interactively (not currently a primary flow, but useful as a reminder):

1. From Manage Shelves, tap a shelf to view its current contents.
2. Use the Library’s filter pill to filter to that shelf.
3. Edit volumes from the filtered Library view as usual.

Multi-shelf membership

A volume can be on many shelves simultaneously. The shelf bottom sheet shows checkmarks for shelves the volume is already on, and lets you add or remove with single taps:

• Tap an unchecked shelf to add the volume to it.
• Tap a checked shelf to remove the volume from it.
• Tap Done when finished.

What if I want to remove from one shelf but add to another?

Tap the shelf you want to remove from (uncheck it), then tap the new shelf (check it), then tap Done. Both happen in the same action.

Removing all shelves from a volume

Open the manga detail page, tap Manage Shelves, uncheck every shelf, tap Done. The volume returns to having no shelf assignments. It still exists in your Library — only the shelf assignments are removed.

Adding from a friend’s profile

If you’re viewing a friend’s collection (Unique tab) and want to add a friend’s volume to your wishlist, you can do that — but assigning to a shelf has to happen from your own Library afterward, since the volume isn’t yours yet.

Shelf membership and friends

Shelf membership is private. Friends viewing your profile can’t see which shelves a volume is on or what your shelves are called.

Tips

• Don’t over-shelf. If a volume genuinely fits 5 shelves, that’s fine — shelves are tags. But if you find yourself unable to decide, your shelf categories may be too granular.
• Use bulk-assign for efficiency. Setting up a new shelf? Filter to relevant volumes, select all, bulk-assign — done in 30 seconds.
