Filtering your library by shelf
In your Library, you can filter to show only volumes on a specific shelf. Combine with status, read status, search, and sort to find exactly what you’re looking for.
How to filter by shelf
- On the Library tab, tap the Filters button on the right side of the filter pill.
- The filter panel expands. Find the Shelves section.
- Tap a shelf chip to filter to volumes on that shelf.
The Library updates immediately to show only volumes on the selected shelf.
Shelf chips
Each shelf appears as a chip in the filter panel:
- Color-coded to match the shelf’s color.
- Icon-tagged to match the shelf’s icon.
- Shows the shelf name.
Tapping a chip selects it (and deselects any previously selected shelf — only one shelf can be filtered at a time). Tapping the same chip again deselects it.
”All Shelves” / clearing the shelf filter
To remove the shelf filter entirely, tap the selected chip again, or use the Clear Filters button.
Many shelves — the “+X more” picker
If you have 6 or fewer custom shelves, all of them are shown as chips directly. With 7+ shelves (PRO), you’ll see the first 4 plus a +X more button. Tap it to open a bottom-sheet picker with every shelf.
In the picker:
- Tap any shelf to apply the filter and close the picker.
- Tap All Shelves at the top to clear the shelf filter.
Combining shelf filter with other filters
Shelf filtering composes with other filters:
- Status: Owned + Shelf: Favorites — Only Owned volumes that are on Favorites.
- Read Status: Reading + Shelf: Currently Reading — Volumes you’re currently reading AND have on the Currently Reading shelf.
- Search “berserk” + Shelf: Dark Fantasy — Search within a single shelf.
This is one of the main reasons shelves are useful — you can slice your collection any way you want.
Why only one shelf at a time?
Filtering by a single shelf at a time is the cleanest mental model. If you tried to filter by two shelves with an “AND” logic, you’d see only volumes that are on both — usually a small overlap. With “OR” logic, the result feels less like filtering and more like searching.
If you genuinely need a multi-shelf view, the workaround is to add a third tag shelf that captures the combination you want, then add the relevant volumes to it.
Shelf filtering and bulk-select
Filtering to a shelf, then long-pressing to enter selection mode, lets you select all volumes on that shelf and bulk-act on them (e.g., remove from shelf via shelf-bottom-sheet, mark as completed, etc.).
Shelf filter persistence
Your shelf filter selection persists across app launches. If you always want to start in your Favorites shelf, set it once and it’ll stay.
To always start with no shelf filter, just tap Clear Filters at the start of each session.
Tip: Use shelves for “view modes”
Some collectors use shelves like saved view modes. “Display” might be the volumes physically on display. “Storage” is everything else. Filtering between them mimics walking between rooms of your collection.
