MV Manga Vault Help

Setting a custom value

For specific volumes that are worth more (or less) than MSRP × condition multiplier suggests — signed copies, rare editions, damaged volumes you’d value lower than the multiplier captures — you can set a Custom Value.

PRO required. Custom Value is a PRO feature.

How to set a custom value

  1. Open the manga detail page for the volume.
  2. Find the Custom Value field (often near the Market Value display).
  3. Tap to open the input modal.
  4. Type the dollar amount.
  5. Tap Save.

The volume’s value is now your custom amount, regardless of condition or MSRP.

How custom value affects calculations

When a custom value is set:

  • The condition multiplier is not applied.
  • The MSRP is not used.
  • The custom value × quantity is the volume’s contribution to Collection Value.

For example: a volume with MSRP $14.99 in Good condition normally values at $11.99. If you set a custom value of $50 (a signed first edition), it’ll value at $50 — regardless of condition setting.

Use cases

  • Signed copies — A signed first edition can be worth multiples of MSRP.
  • Rare or limited editions — Hardcover variants, special prints, exclusive bundles.
  • Box sets and omnibuses — When the catalog MSRP is for a single volume but you have a multi-volume set.
  • Damaged volumes you’d value lower — Accidental damage that doesn’t fit cleanly into Poor condition.
  • Volumes with missing MSRP — Replace the $10.99 default with a real number.

Resetting to MSRP

To remove a custom value and revert to the standard MSRP × condition calculation:

  1. Open the manga detail page.
  2. Tap Custom Value.
  3. Tap Use MSRP Instead (or clear the field and Save).

The custom value is removed and the standard calculation applies.

Custom value of $0

You can set a custom value of $0 — useful for volumes you’ve effectively written off (heavily damaged, given as a gift in advance, etc.). The volume contributes $0 to your Collection Value but stays in your collection.

Custom value vs condition

These work differently:

  • Condition — A categorical tag that applies a multiplier to MSRP.
  • Custom value — A specific dollar amount that bypasses MSRP and condition.

If you want most volumes to use condition (which auto-adjusts for wear) and only a few to have custom amounts, set custom value only where it matters and leave the rest as standard.

Custom value and friends

Friends can see your collection value (subject to Show Value privacy). They see the total — they don’t see which volumes have custom values vs default. Custom values are private metadata.

Tip: Audit annually

If you maintain custom values, consider re-checking them annually. Manga values shift over time — a custom value you set 5 years ago for a “valuable” series might now be conservative or overvalued.

Importing or exporting custom values

Custom values are included in data exports. When you re-import the same data, custom values are preserved.
