Editing or deleting a lending record
Lending records can be edited (to fix typos, change due date, update notes) or deleted (to remove the record entirely).
How to open a lending record
From the Lending Tracker
- Open Lending Tracker (Social tab → Lending Tracker).
- Find the loan in either the Active or Returned tab.
- Tap the entry to open the loan detail view.
From the manga detail page
- Open the manga detail page of the lent volume.
- Tap the Lent Out banner (for active loans).
- The lending record opens.
Editing a lending record
In the detail view, you can edit:
- Borrower name — Change the name (useful if you mistyped, or if you originally lent to one person and now know it’s a different person).
- Lent date — Change the date (useful if you’re entering an old loan).
- Returned date — For returned loans only, change to the actual return date.
- Due date — Add, remove, or change a due date.
- Notes — Add or modify the free-form notes.
You can’t edit the volume itself — to lend a different volume, delete this record and create a new one.
To save edits, tap Save at the top.
Deleting a lending record
- Open the lending detail view.
- Tap Delete at the bottom.
- Confirm — “Delete this lending record?”
The record is removed permanently. There’s no undo.
What deletion does
- For an active loan: The lent indicator disappears from the volume in your Library, and the volume is no longer marked as Lent Out. The volume remains in your collection.
- For a returned loan: The historical record is removed; everything else stays as-is.
When to delete vs mark returned
| Situation | Better choice |
|---|---|
| The volume came back | Mark as Returned |
| You created the record by mistake | Delete |
| You re-lent the same volume immediately | Mark as Returned, then create a new lend |
| You don’t want to track the loan anymore | Delete |
| The volume is permanently gone (sold/given away) | Delete the volume from your collection |
Marking as Returned preserves history; Delete erases.
Editing a friend’s name after they leave Manga Vault
If you lent to a friend who later deleted their account, the lending record retains their last-known display name. You can edit the name to whatever’s useful (e.g., “Sarah (former friend)” or just their first name).
Privacy of edits
Edits sync to your account. If the borrower is a friend, they don’t have access to edit or see your private notes. The borrower only sees that you’ve lent them a volume — not your private metadata.
Bulk delete
There’s no bulk delete for lending records currently. Each one is deleted individually. If you have many old records to clean up, you’ll need to delete them one at a time.
Auditing your lending history
Your full lending history is included in data exports — JSON or CSV. Useful if you want to review years of loans, or if you’re considering deleting old records and want a backup first.
