How condition affects value

Each volume in your collection has a condition rating: Mint, Good, Fair, or Poor. Condition affects your estimated Collection Value via a multiplier on the volume’s MSRP.

The multipliers

ConditionMultiplierDescription
Mint× 1.0 (100%)Near-perfect, often shrink-wrapped.
Good× 0.8 (80%)Lightly read or shelf-worn.
Fair× 0.6 (60%)Visibly read, some scuffs.
Poor× 0.4 (40%)Heavy wear, tears, or damage.

Example

A volume with MSRP of $14.99:

ConditionValue
Mint$14.99 × 1.0 = $14.99
Good$14.99 × 0.8 = $11.99
Fair$14.99 × 0.6 = $8.99
Poor$14.99 × 0.4 = $6.00

Why these specific numbers

The multipliers reflect typical secondary-market resale ratios:

  • A Mint volume often sells at or near MSRP (or even above for popular series).
  • A Good volume — the most common condition — typically sells at 70–85% of MSRP.
  • Fair and Poor are progressively discounted.

We picked simple round numbers for clarity. They’re approximations, not appraisals.

How to set condition

On the manga detail page, tap the Condition field and pick from the four options. See Setting condition.

Bulk condition changes

There’s no bulk-edit for condition currently. Each volume’s condition is set individually. If you imported many volumes from another tracker, they may all default to “Good” — you’ll need to update individually if you want to adjust.

What if I disagree with the multipliers?

Some collectors believe Good condition is overvalued (or undervalued) at 80%. We picked numbers that work for the average market, but you can override per-volume:

For example, if you have a Mint volume worth significantly more than MSRP (signed copy, rare variant), use Custom Value to set the actual market price. If you have a Fair volume that you know would sell for less than 60%, do the same.

When condition doesn’t apply

If you’ve set a Custom Value on a volume, the condition multiplier isn’t applied — the custom value is used directly. Condition still appears in the volume’s metadata but doesn’t affect the calculation.

Quantity and condition

Each volume has one condition. If you own 2 Mint copies of a volume, it counts as 2 × MSRP × 1.0 = 2 × MSRP. If you own 1 Mint and 1 Fair copy, you’d ideally treat them as separate entries (or accept an averaged condition for simplicity). See Setting quantity.

Tip: Default condition is Good

When you scan or add a volume, the default condition is Good. This is usually appropriate for most volumes — adjust only if your specific copy is meaningfully different. Don’t sweat the precision.
