What Collection Value calculates (PRO)
Collection Value is a PRO feature that estimates the total dollar value of every Owned volume in your collection.
How to access
- Open the Social tab.
- Tap the Collection Value quick-action card.
This opens the Collection Value screen, which has tabs for Total, By Series, and By Volume.
PRO required. Collection Value is part of the PRO subscription. FREE users see a
$ ---placeholder where the value would be.
How it’s calculated
For each Owned volume:
itemValue = (custom value) OR (MSRP × condition multiplier)
totalValue = sum(itemValue × quantity)
The calculation uses:
- MSRP — The publisher’s manufacturer’s suggested retail price (from our catalog), or
$10.99if missing. - Condition multiplier — Mint 100%, Good 80%, Fair 60%, Poor 40%.
- Quantity — How many copies you own.
- Custom value — If you’ve manually overridden the value, this is used directly (no condition multiplier applied).
What’s included and excluded
Included:
- Owned volumes (Status: Owned).
- Each copy if quantity > 1 (so 2 copies of a $10 volume = $20).
Excluded:
- Wishlist items (you don’t own them).
- Volumes lent out are still included (you still own them).
- Deleted volumes (obviously).
The default $10.99 fallback
When MSRP is missing from our catalog, we use $10.99 as a generic estimate. This isn’t always accurate — special editions, hardcovers, and box sets can be much more expensive — but it’s a reasonable default for typical paperback manga.
To improve accuracy on volumes with missing MSRP:
- Open the manga detail page.
- Tap the Custom Value field (PRO).
- Enter the actual price you paid (or the current market value).
- Save.
Why a calculation, not an appraisal
Collection Value is a rough estimate, not a professional appraisal. The condition multipliers and MSRP-based starting points are typical secondary-market ratios, but actual resale value depends on:
- Specific edition (signed, limited, variants)
- Current market demand
- Where you sell (LCS vs eBay vs Mandarake)
- Condition specifics beyond Mint/Good/Fair/Poor
For insurance, estate planning, or formal valuation, consult a manga or book appraiser.
Updating
Collection Value updates whenever you:
- Add or remove a volume.
- Change a condition.
- Change a quantity.
- Set or change a custom value.
The total recalculates instantly — no manual refresh needed.
Friend visibility
Friends can see your Collection Value (subject to your privacy settings). Specifically:
- Show Value must be on for friends to see the dollar amount.
- The friend viewer must have PRO themselves to see your dollar amount.
Privacy
If you’d rather not have your collection value visible:
- Open Edit Profile.
- Find Show Value in the privacy toggles.
- Turn it off.
Friends will see $ --- instead of your dollar value.
