MV Manga Vault Help

What “Not Found” means and how to request a manga

If your scan or manual ISBN entry shows Not Found, it means we don’t have that volume in our catalog yet. You can request it — most requests get approved within a few days.

How to submit a request

  1. On the Not Found modal, tap Request this volume.
  2. A request form will appear, pre-filled with the ISBN you scanned.
  3. Optionally add details we should know:
    • Title
    • Series
    • Author
    • Publisher
    • Volume number
    • Notes (e.g., “International edition”, “Out of print”)
  4. Tap Submit.

You’ll see a confirmation that your request was received. The volume now shows as Pending when scanned, until our team reviews it.

What happens after you submit

  1. Our catalog team reviews your request.
  2. If approved, we add the metadata and cover art, then publish.
  3. Once published, the next time you scan the ISBN you’ll see the normal Found card and can add it to your collection.

How long does approval take?

Usually 2–5 days. Some take longer:

  • Imports from countries we have less catalog coverage for
  • Out-of-print volumes that take time to verify
  • Box sets, omnibus editions, and unusual formats

Tracking your requests

To see all the requests you’ve submitted and their status:

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Tap My Requests.

You’ll see each request with its current status (Pending / Approved / Published / Rejected). Tap any to see details.

Why didn’t my volume show up immediately?

We hand-review every request to keep catalog quality high. See What “Pending” means for the full lifecycle.

Request limits

To prevent abuse, there’s a limit on how many requests you can submit per hour. See Request rate limits for details.

What if my request is rejected?

Rejections are rare. The usual reasons:

  • Duplicate — We already have this volume under a different ISBN. We’ll point you to the correct one.
  • Not manga — The barcode is for a related but different product (an art book, novel adaptation, art print, or non-book item).
  • Insufficient info — We couldn’t verify the volume exists. Try resubmitting with more details (publisher’s product page URL, retailer link, etc.).

We send a notice for any rejection so you know what happened.
