What “Pending” means
You scanned an ISBN and got a Pending modal. This means someone has already requested this volume be added to our catalog and we’re still reviewing it.
Why we don’t auto-add unrequested volumes
Our catalog is curated — we manually review every new ISBN to make sure metadata is accurate, cover art is correct, and the volume is genuinely manga (not a misclassified novel or art book). This keeps quality high but means there’s a brief review window between request and approval.
What happens next
Our team typically reviews requests within a few days. After review:
- Approved — The volume becomes available. You’ll see Coming Soon the first time you scan it after approval, then Found once the catalog publishes.
- Rejected — Rare, but it happens (e.g., the ISBN is for a non-manga product, or it’s a duplicate of something we already have under a different ISBN). We’ll do our best to find an equivalent in the catalog if one exists.
Did I request this volume?
The Pending modal doesn’t distinguish between requests you made and requests other users made. If you want to track your own requests, head to Settings → My Requests to see the status of every volume you’ve personally submitted.
Can I be notified when it’s approved?
Yes — when you submit a request, your account is automatically associated with that ISBN. When we approve it, we’ll send you a push notification (once notifications are enabled in a future update). For now, just try scanning again every few days.
How long does Pending take?
Most requests are reviewed within 2–5 days. Edge cases (rare imports, hard-to-verify titles, unusual editions) can take longer. If a Pending request has been sitting for more than two weeks, contact support and include the ISBN.
Can I add a Pending volume to my collection somehow?
Not until it’s approved and published. Catalog data drives everything from cover art to series tracking to recommendations — we won’t add half-cataloged entries to your account.
If you really need to track a specific volume right now, you can add a manual entry (a Library entry with custom title and details), but it won’t be linked to a series and won’t get cover art until we publish the real entry.
