Resetting your library

The Reset Library action removes every volume from your collection — both Owned and Wishlist — but keeps your account, profile, friends, shelves, achievements, and other data intact.

When to use

Reset Library is for cases where you want to start your collection over without deleting your account. Common reasons:

  • You imported test data and want to clear it.
  • You’re switching to a different cataloging approach.
  • Your collection got out of sync and you want to rebuild from scratch by re-scanning.

If you want to delete everything (including your account), use Delete Account instead.

How to reset

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Scroll to the Danger Zone section near the bottom.
  3. Tap Reset Library.
  4. A confirmation modal appears. It tells you how many volumes will be deleted.
  5. Type your acknowledgment (e.g., “DELETE”) in the text input.
  6. Tap Reset Library to confirm.

After confirmation:

  • Every Owned and Wishlist volume is removed from your collection.
  • Pending changes sync to the cloud.
  • Your Library appears empty.

What’s preserved

Reset Library does not delete:

  • Your account or sign-in.
  • Your profile (name, bio, avatar, cover image, etc.).
  • Your friends list.
  • Your shelves (the shelves themselves remain — they’re just empty now).
  • Your achievements (already-unlocked ones stay).
  • Your XP and level.
  • Your subscription status.

What’s deleted

  • All Owned volumes.
  • All Wishlist items.
  • All reading progress (current pages, statuses, completion timestamps, re-read counts).
  • All custom values you set on volumes.
  • All shelf assignments (volumes-to-shelves links).
  • Active and returned lending records (since the volumes they reference are gone).

Is it reversible?

No. Reset Library is permanent. Once you confirm, the data is gone from both your local device and the cloud.

If you have a recent data export, you can re-import after a reset to get your collection back. Otherwise, you’d need to re-scan or re-add manually.

Safety: text confirmation

Reset Library requires typing “DELETE” (or similar) in a text input before the confirm button activates. This is to prevent accidental taps from causing irreversible damage.

Reset Library + sign-out

If you reset your library and then sign out, your account still exists. Signing back in gives you a clean account with no volumes (but profile, friends, shelves intact).

Reset Library on multiple devices

When you reset on one device, the empty state syncs to all your signed-in devices within seconds. They’ll all show empty Libraries.

Why “Danger Zone”?

We group destructive actions (Reset Library, Delete Account, Export My Data) under “Danger Zone” specifically so they’re not accidentally tapped during normal use.

Tip

Before resetting, export your data as a JSON file (Settings → Danger Zone → Export My Data). Even if you’re sure you want to reset, having a backup is reassuring.

After reset

Your Library is empty. To rebuild:

Why no “Empty Wishlist” or “Empty Owned” specifically?

We support full Library reset only. To selectively delete just Owned or just Wishlist, you’d need to bulk-select on the Library tab and bulk-delete. See Bulk-deleting.
