The “Favorites” default shelf
When you sign up for Manga Vault, you automatically have one shelf already set up: Favorites.
What it is
A shelf labeled “Favorites” with a heart icon. It’s there from day one, ready to use.
Why we provide it
Most collectors have favorites worth marking — volumes they love most, are most proud of, or want to display prominently. The Favorites shelf makes that immediate without requiring you to create a custom shelf first.
How to add to Favorites
Same as any shelf:
- Open a manga’s detail page.
- Tap Add to Shelf (or Manage Shelves if it’s already on a shelf).
- Select Favorites in the picker.
- Tap Done.
You can also bulk-assign — long-press to enter selection mode, select volumes, tap the Shelf icon, pick Favorites.
Can I delete or rename Favorites?
No. Favorites is a default shelf and can’t be deleted or renamed. We keep it as a constant so it’s predictable.
If you don’t use Favorites, just leave it empty — it doesn’t take up space in your Library or count against the FREE 3-shelf cap.
Does Favorites count toward my FREE 3-shelf limit?
No. The Favorites default shelf is separate from your custom shelf count. You still get 3 custom shelves on FREE.
What’s special about Favorites?
Functionally, nothing. It’s just a shelf with a heart icon. You can choose to use it as your “favorite volumes” shelf or repurpose it however you like — it’ll always be called Favorites and have a heart icon.
Why isn’t there a “Currently Reading” or “Completed” default shelf?
Manga Vault has dedicated Read Status filters (Unread / Reading / Completed) that handle that need. Read status is its own thing — using it instead of a shelf keeps things cleaner. See Tracking reading progress.
Future default shelves
We may introduce more default shelves in future updates (e.g., “Wishlist” might become a shelf-style entity rather than a status). For now, Favorites is the only default.
