Language and international editions
Manga Vault’s catalog includes manga published in eight languages. Scanning works automatically — no language toggle needed in the app.
Languages in the catalog
- English
- French
- German
- Italian
- Polish
- Spanish (Spain and Latin America)
- Portuguese (Brazil)
- Japanese (original Japanese-language editions)
We add coverage continuously. If your edition’s language isn’t supported yet, you can request it.
Why no language toggle?
Each ISBN maps to a specific edition (publisher + language + format). When you scan a barcode, we look up the ISBN and serve back the matching edition’s data.
You don’t need to tell the app what language you’re collecting — the ISBN tells us.
Mixing languages in your collection
Your collection can hold a mix of editions in different languages. They show up alongside each other:
- Sort by series — Same series in different languages cluster together (when we have them linked).
- Filter by status — Owned/Wishlist applies regardless of edition.
- Search by title — Works for both original-language titles and English-translated titles where available.
App interface language
The Manga Vault app interface itself is currently in English only. Menus, buttons, and help text are English even if you’re collecting French or Japanese manga.
We may add localized app interfaces in future updates — let us know if there’s a language you’d value the app being in.
Help center language
This Help Center is also currently in English only.
Original-language titles
When we have catalog data for a non-English edition, we usually display the title in the original language (e.g., 進撃の巨人 for the Japanese edition of Attack on Titan, L’Attaque des Titans for the French edition).
If we know the romanized or English equivalent, that’s shown alongside or as a search alias.
What if my language isn’t covered?
Some languages aren’t currently in our unified catalog (e.g., Korean, Vietnamese, Indonesian). For those:
- You can still track these volumes via manual entries — Library entries with custom title and metadata.
- You can request that we add catalog coverage. We use feedback to prioritize new languages.
Cross-language series matching
We try to link different language editions of the same series so that, e.g., “Berserk” and “ベルセルク” and “Berserk” (French) are recognized as the same series for “Complete Your Series” tracking.
This works when our catalog data links them; it doesn’t always work for less common titles.
Catalog coverage by language
- English — Most extensive coverage.
- French, German, Italian, Spanish — Strong coverage of mainstream series.
- Polish, Portuguese (BR), Japanese — Growing coverage.
If you scan a volume in a less-covered language and get Not Found, please request it. Each request improves coverage for everyone.
Tip
If you’re a multilingual collector, your Manga Vault collection becomes a single unified inventory across languages. Many collectors enjoy seeing their international acquisitions side-by-side.
