MV Manga Vault Help

Lending a manga

Use the lending feature to keep track of any volume you’ve lent to a friend or external borrower.

How to lend

  1. Open the manga detail page of the volume you want to lend.
  2. Scroll to the Lending section.
  3. Tap Lend This Manga.
  4. The Lend modal slides up.

In the Lend modal

Borrower type

Pick Friend or External.

Friend picker (if Friend selected)

Your friends list appears. Each friend shows:

  • Avatar (their photo or icon)
  • Display name
  • Verified badge (if applicable)
  • PRO badge (if applicable, subject to their privacy setting)

Tap the friend you’re lending to. A checkmark appears.

External name (if External selected)

Type the borrower’s name. Up to ~50 characters.

Due date (optional)

Tap the date field to pick a due date. The picker shows a calendar — pick any future date.

You can leave this blank if you don’t want a deadline.

Notes (optional)

Up to ~150 characters of free-form text. Use it to remember context: “Lent during travel”, “Reading for book club”, etc.

Save

Tap Lend at the bottom of the modal. The lending record is created and the modal closes.

What happens after you lend

  • A Lent Out banner appears at the top of the manga detail page.
  • The volume shows a small lent indicator (icon overlay) in your Library views.
  • An entry is added to the Active tab in the Lending Tracker.
  • The volume’s status remains Owned — you still own it; just temporarily not in your possession.

Lending the same volume to a sequence of people

Each lend is its own record. You can:

  1. Lend to Person A.
  2. Mark as Returned when they bring it back.
  3. Lend to Person B.
  4. Repeat.

The Lending Tracker shows the full history (active loan in Active tab, past loans in Returned tab).

Can I lend a wishlist volume?

No — only Owned volumes can be lent. (You don’t physically have a wishlist volume by definition.)

Can I lend a volume that’s already lent out?

If a volume is already in your Active loans, the Lend button shows as Mark as Returned instead — finish the current loan first.

Lending to friends without an active subscription

You don’t need PRO to lend, and the borrower doesn’t need PRO either. Lending is a FREE-tier feature for everyone.

Notifications and reminders

When push notifications launch, you’ll be able to opt into reminders for overdue loans. Until then, manually check the Lending Tracker periodically.

Privacy

Lending records are private to you. Friends viewing your profile (even the borrower) don’t see your full Lending Tracker — only loans they’re personally involved in (i.e., volumes lent to them).

Tip

For valuable or sentimental volumes (signed copies, hard-to-find editions), set a notes field with a description of the volume’s condition before lending. That way if there’s any disagreement on return condition, you have a record.
