MV Manga Vault Help

What “Set Total Pages” does

If our catalog doesn’t have a page count for a specific volume, you’ll see a Set Total Pages prompt in the Reading Progress section instead of a normal progress bar. Setting the total unlocks page-level tracking for that volume.

Why pages might be missing

Most volumes have page count in our catalog, but some don’t:

  • Older volumes from before we had reliable data sources.
  • Some international editions.
  • Box sets and unusual formats.
  • Recent additions where the metadata is still being verified.

When pages are missing, we can still track the volume’s status (Unread / Reading / Completed) but can’t show a percentage progress bar.

How to set total pages

On the manga detail page:

  1. In the Reading Progress section, look for the Set Total Pages button.
  2. Tap it.
  3. A numeric input modal appears.
  4. Type the page count (find this on the back of the book, on the publisher’s product page, or just count if necessary).
  5. Tap Confirm.

The total saves immediately and the progress bar appears. From now on you can log current page and see your percentage.

Where to find the page count

  • Back cover — Sometimes printed near the publisher info or barcode.
  • Copyright page — Inside the front cover, often listed as “[N] pages”.
  • Publisher’s website — Search the title and look at the product page.
  • Retailer listings — Amazon, B&N, etc. usually show page count.

Updating total pages

If you set a value and later realize it was wrong (e.g., you counted the chapter pages but missed the bonus content), tap the total page count again and update. Your current page stays the same — only the total changes.

Page count and our catalog

When you set a total page count, it’s stored on your local entry for that volume — it doesn’t update our catalog for everyone. If you’d like us to add the page count to the catalog, contact support with the ISBN and page count and we’ll verify and add it.

Volumes added before total was set

If you added a volume when total pages was missing and we later add the page count to our catalog, the next time you open the volume’s detail page you’ll see the catalog page count automatically — your manually-set value is preserved alongside.

Skipping page tracking

If you don’t care about tracking specific pages, just don’t tap Set Total Pages. The volume’s reading status (Unread / Reading / Completed) still works fine without page-level tracking.
