MV Manga Vault Help

Re-reading a completed manga

If you’ve finished a volume and want to read it again, Manga Vault tracks each re-read so you can keep an honest count of how many times you’ve gone through your favorite series.

How to start a re-read

On the manga detail page of a Completed volume:

  1. Look for the Start Re-read button under the Reading Progress section.
  2. Tap it.
  3. A confirmation modal asks: “Re-read this volume? Your current page will reset to 0 and your re-read counter will increment when you finish.”
  4. Tap Confirm.

The volume’s status changes from Completed back to Reading. Current page resets to 0. The timesRead counter doesn’t increment yet — that happens when you complete the re-read.

Track your progress as you re-read

Use the page-logging tools to update your page as you go — the same way you would on a first read.

Marking the re-read as complete

When you finish, mark the volume as Completed again (or let the auto-prompt at the last page do it). At that point:

  • timesRead increments by 1 (e.g., 1 → 2).
  • finishedReadingAt updates to the new completion time.
  • Status returns to Completed.

Where the re-read counter shows up

On the manga detail page, you’ll see a small badge or label showing your read count, like:

  • “Read 2x”
  • “Re-read 3 times”

Volumes with re-read counts > 1 contribute to specific achievements like Old Favorite and Nostalgia Trip.

Re-reading achievements

Several achievements reward re-reading:

  • Old Favorite — Re-read 1 manga (any volume read more than once).
  • Nostalgia Trip — Re-read 5 manga.

See Achievements for the full list.

What if I read the same volume more than once but never marked the first read as Completed?

The re-read counter only counts proper Completed → Re-read → Completed cycles. If you read a volume informally without ever marking it Completed, that read doesn’t count.

To retroactively count an old read:

  1. Mark the volume as Completed (if it isn’t already).
  2. Tap Start Re-read to start the second pass.
  3. Mark Completed again when you finish the re-read.

Resetting re-read count

You can’t currently reset the timesRead counter to 0 (without deleting the volume entirely). If you need this — e.g., the count is wrong because of an old data import — contact support.

Re-reading and “Continue Reading” on Home

Volumes you’re actively re-reading appear in the Continue Reading section on the Home tab, the same way first reads do.
