Signing in with Apple or Google
Manga Vault supports Sign in with Apple and Sign in with Google as alternatives to email and password. They let you create or access your account using an Apple ID or Google account you already have — no new password to remember.
Why use it?
- No new password. Apple and Google handle authentication for you.
- Faster signup. No verification email step — you’re signed in as soon as you authenticate.
- Privacy with Apple. Apple’s “Hide My Email” creates a private relay address so your real email stays hidden from us if you’d like.
How it works
On the sign-in or sign-up screen, tap the Sign in with Apple or Continue with Google button. You’ll be taken briefly to Apple’s or Google’s secure authentication flow, then dropped back into Manga Vault — already signed in.
When to use Apple or Google sign-in vs email
- You’re new to Manga Vault — Either works. Apple/Google is faster (no email verification step). Email/password gives you a password you can use anywhere.
- You’re already signed up — Use whichever method you used originally.
Switching between sign-in methods
Once your account exists, you can sign in with whichever method you originally used. We recommend sticking with one method per account to keep things simple.
If you sign up with email, signing in later with Apple or Google for the same email creates a separate account — we don’t currently merge accounts across providers. Pick a method and stick with it.
I created an account with email — can I switch to Apple or Google?
Account-method switching isn’t supported yet. Continue using email and password for that account. If you’re determined to switch, you’d need to create a new account with Apple/Google and re-add your collection.
Hide My Email (Apple)
When signing in with Apple, you can choose to “Hide My Email” — Apple generates a private relay address (something like xxxxxxx@privaterelay.appleid.com) and we receive that instead of your real email. Apple still forwards mail from us to your real address; we just don’t see it directly.
This works fine with Manga Vault — verification emails (if any), notifications, and account communications all flow normally through Apple’s relay.
Trouble signing in?
- Apple/Google flow opens but errors out — Try again; transient network issues sometimes interrupt the redirect. If it persists, fall back to email signup or contact support.
- “This email already has an account” — An account with the same email exists from a different sign-in method (e.g., you previously signed up with email/password). Sign in with the original method, or contact support for help linking.
- Returned but not signed in — Force-close the app and reopen. Your sign-in usually completes in the background and you’ll be taken to the Home tab.
Privacy
Manga Vault receives only basic profile info from Apple or Google (email, name) — never your password or any other data. Apple’s “Hide My Email” further limits what we see if you choose it.
We use your account email for transactional communications only (verification, password reset, deletion confirmations). We don’t sell or share email addresses.
