Uploading a custom avatar or cover image

PRO subscribers can upload custom images for their profile avatar (the small profile picture) and cover image (the banner). Free users have built-in icon avatars.

Avatar — icons or photo

Built-in icon avatar (FREE and PRO)

By default, your avatar is one of several built-in icons (manga-themed) in your chosen color.

To change it:

1. Open Edit Profile.
2. Tap your avatar at the top.
3. Pick a different built-in icon and color.
4. Tap Save.

Custom photo avatar (PRO)

To upload your own photo:

1. Open Edit Profile.
2. Tap your avatar.
3. Tap Upload Photo (you’ll see this only as a PRO subscriber).
4. Pick a photo from your camera roll.
5. Crop and adjust as needed.
6. Tap Save.

The photo replaces your icon avatar everywhere it appears.

Cover image (PRO)

The cover image is the banner shown at the top of your profile.

To upload:

1. Open Edit Profile.
2. Find the Cover Image section.
3. Tap Upload Cover.
4. Pick a photo from your camera roll.
5. Crop to fit (we’ll suggest a 16:9 aspect ratio).
6. Tap Save.

To remove the cover image, tap the existing cover and select Remove.

Image requirements

• Format — JPEG, PNG, or HEIC (iOS).
• Size — Under 5 MB.
• Aspect ratio — Square or close to it for avatars; 16:9 or wider for cover.
• Content — Per our content policy, no explicit, hateful, or misleading imagery. Personal photos, fan art (with rights), or original art are great.

If a file doesn’t meet requirements, we’ll show an error.

Uploaded images don’t sync until accepted

When you upload, the image is stored locally and only uploaded to our servers when you tap Save. If the upload fails (network issue), the image remains local and will retry on next save.

Using fan art or licensed images

Be mindful of copyright when using fan art or licensed imagery. Cover art from manga publishers is owned by them — using a manga cover as your profile cover image may technically infringe copyright. Our policy is permissive for personal-use cases (you’re not republishing or selling), but please use original art or fair-use imagery where possible.

Replacing or removing images

You can replace or remove any uploaded image at any time:

• Replace — Tap the image, choose Upload, pick a new one.
• Remove — Tap the image, choose Remove, save.

When you remove, you’ll fall back to the icon avatar (for avatars) or no banner (for cover image).

Privacy

Custom avatars and covers are visible to your friends and on your public profile (if enabled). They’re shown to anyone who can see your profile.

To completely hide them, you’d need to switch back to the icon avatar / no cover, since these elements appear together with your other public/friend-visible info.

What if I downgrade from PRO?

If your PRO subscription expires:

• Your current uploaded avatar and cover stay — we don’t delete them.
• You can’t upload new custom images until you renew PRO.
• You can revert to icon avatars on FREE if you want.
