Custom value reset to MSRP after I navigated away
You set a custom value on a volume, and after navigating away (or closing and reopening the app) the value reverted to MSRP × condition. Here’s how to diagnose.
This was a known issue (now fixed)
In an earlier version of Manga Vault, custom values could occasionally revert due to a sync bug. This has been resolved — custom values now save reliably and persist across sessions and devices.
If you’re seeing this on the latest app version, it’s not the old bug — see below for current causes.
Make sure the app is updated
- Open the App Store (iOS) or Play Store (Android).
- Search for Manga Vault.
- If an update is available, install it.
If the issue was the old bug, updating fixes it.
Step 1 — Verify the custom value was saved
Set the custom value and immediately:
- Look at the manga detail page — does the custom value display correctly?
- If yes, the save happened.
Step 2 — Force a sync
- Open Settings → Catalog Version.
- Tap to force a sync.
This pushes any pending changes to the cloud and re-pulls the latest state.
Step 3 — Re-open the manga detail page
After syncing, navigate back to the manga detail page. Is the custom value still there?
- Yes — Issue resolved.
- No — Try setting it again, then tap explicitly into another volume’s detail page (don’t close the app), then come back. Is it preserved?
Step 4 — Check on another device
If you’re signed in on another device:
- Pull-to-refresh on the Library tab.
- Open the same volume.
- Verify the custom value matches.
If it’s correct on another device, your local app is just out of sync. Force-close and reopen.
Step 5 — Sign out and back in
If the issue persists:
- Settings → Sign Out.
- Sign back in.
Initial sign-in re-pulls all data fresh from the cloud, including custom values.
What if it’s still resetting
Contact support with:
- Your App Version (Settings → About).
- The volume’s ISBN.
- Steps to reproduce.
We’ll investigate and fix.
A note on syncing custom values
Custom values are stored on each individual volume’s record in the cloud. They sync the same way as condition, quantity, etc. There’s no special handling — they should behave consistently.
If they’re getting lost, it’s most likely a sync issue (see My collection isn’t syncing).
Difference between custom value and “Use MSRP Instead”
- Setting a custom value — Your specified amount overrides MSRP × condition.
- Tapping “Use MSRP Instead” — Removes any custom value and reverts to MSRP × condition calculation.
Make sure you’re not accidentally tapping “Use MSRP Instead” when you mean to keep your custom value.
Tip
If you set custom values on many volumes, export your data periodically as a backup. Custom values are included in exports — if anything goes wrong, you can re-import.
