MV Manga Vault Help

A scan I just made hasn’t appeared on my other device

You scanned a volume on your phone, and now it’s not showing up on your tablet (or another device). Here’s why and what to do.

Sync timing

Most changes sync within a few seconds. But:

  • The change has to upload from Device A. This usually takes 1–3 seconds.
  • Device B has to pick up the change. Either via push (when push is fully active) or by foregrounding the app.

If you scanned on your phone and immediately switched to your tablet, the tablet might not have picked up the change yet. Wait a few seconds, or force a refresh.

Force a refresh on the other device

On the device where the volume is missing:

  1. Pull-to-refresh on the Library tab. Scroll to top, pull down.
  2. Or force-close and reopen the app.
  3. Or tap Settings → Catalog Version to force a sync.

Within a few seconds, the volume should appear.

Check both devices are signed in to the same account

It’s surprisingly common to be signed in to two different accounts on different devices.

Verify:

  1. On both devices, go to Settings.
  2. Confirm the email address shown matches between them.

If they’re different, sign out and sign in to the correct account.

Check Device A actually synced

On Device A (the device where you scanned):

  • Look for a sync status indicator (some indication a sync completed).
  • If you see a red “Sync failed” banner, the change is stuck locally and hasn’t reached the cloud.
  • Tap to retry, or follow the steps in My collection isn’t syncing.

Check the volume is actually saved on Device A

Open the manga detail page on Device A. If the volume is there, it’s been added locally. The question is just whether sync delivered it to Device B.

If the volume isn’t on Device A either, the scan didn’t successfully add — try scanning again.

Internet on Device B

If Device B is offline, sync can’t happen. Once it has a connection, sync resumes automatically.

Same iCloud / Google account?

Note: device-syncing happens via your Manga Vault account (Cognito), not your iCloud or Google account. Even if your devices share an Apple ID or Google account, sync between them goes through Manga Vault’s cloud — both must be signed in to Manga Vault.

Long delay between scan and visibility on other device

  • Push notifications fully active — Should be within seconds.
  • Push not fully active — Up to a few minutes if the other device is in background.
  • Other device in background for hours — May not pick up changes until you foreground.

Troubleshooting checklist

StepAction
1Wait 30 seconds. Sync may just be in flight.
2Pull-to-refresh on Device B.
3Force-close and reopen Manga Vault on Device B.
4Verify both devices are on the same Manga Vault account.
5Check for sync failure banner on Device A.
6Force-sync from Settings on both devices.
7Sign out and back in on Device B.

Still missing after all that?

Contact support with the specific volume’s ISBN, both device models, and approximate time of the scan. We can check our backend logs to confirm the change reached the cloud.

Tip

If you scan many volumes during a single session and want to verify they all synced, after the session pull-to-refresh on each device and visually confirm. Most sync issues self-resolve quickly; manual verification only when something feels off.
