The verified badge

A verified badge appears on some accounts to indicate they’ve passed our verification process. The badge is a small book icon in a purple circle, shown next to the user’s display name.

What verification means

The verified badge means we’ve confirmed the user is genuinely who they say they are — typically a notable manga community figure, content creator, publisher, or trusted brand. Verification helps prevent impersonation and gives you confidence that an account is authentic.

Where the badge appears

You’ll see the verified badge on:

  • Friend profiles
  • Friend list rows
  • Friend requests (incoming Pending tab)
  • Lending modal friend picker
  • Add Friend search results
  • Your own profile (if you’re verified)

How to get verified

Verification is currently invite-only. We’re rolling out the verification program slowly to ensure quality. Criteria include:

  • A public presence in the manga community (creator, reviewer, publisher employee, established collector).
  • A verified identity matching the account name.
  • Active, authentic use of the app.

If you’d like to be verified, contact support and tell us about yourself. We’ll review and let you know.

Why some friends are verified and others aren’t

Most users aren’t verified — that’s normal. The verified badge is rare and reserved for cases where authenticity-of-identity matters (mostly to combat impersonation of well-known figures).

Don’t feel less-than for not being verified. Verification doesn’t grant any extra features — it’s just a signal of identity.

Privacy of verification

Whether your account is verified is part of your profile and visible to friends. You can choose to hide your PRO badge separately (via privacy toggles), but verification is shown to friends without a privacy toggle.

Identity scams

If you see an account with a verified badge that’s behaving suspiciously, contact us — we may need to investigate whether the account has been compromised.

If you see a non-verified account claiming to be a public figure, treat it skeptically. The lack of badge isn’t proof they’re fake, but verified accounts are the ones we’ve actually validated.
