Editing your profile in depth
The Edit Profile screen is where you control everything about how friends and (optionally) the public see you. Here’s a complete tour.
How to open Edit Profile
- Open the Social tab.
- Tap your profile card at the top.
- Tap Edit Profile.
Sections of the Edit Profile screen
Profile basics
- Display name — Your name as shown on your profile and in friend cards.
- Username — Your unique handle. See Username rules.
- Bio — A short description of yourself or your collection.
Profile imagery
- Avatar — Your profile picture. Choose a built-in icon or upload a photo (PRO).
- Cover image — A banner photo for your profile (PRO). See Uploading a custom avatar or cover image.
Favorite genres
Tap genres to mark them as favorites. They appear as tags on your profile. Up to ~6 favorite genres can be selected.
Privacy settings (collapsed by default)
Privacy toggles control what’s visible to friends. There are ten of them, covering everything from your bio to your collection list to your dollar value. Most default on; one (Show Value) defaults off. See Privacy toggles for the detailed rundown of what each one does.
Public profile
- Public Profile toggle — Enable a public-facing URL for your profile. See Public profile pages.
Saving changes
Tap Save at the top-right of the screen. You’ll see a brief success toast and the screen closes. Your changes sync immediately to your account.
Validation
Before save, we validate:
- Username — Must be unique. If taken, you’ll see an error and the username field shakes.
- Display name — At least 1 character.
- Bio — Up to ~300 characters.
If validation fails, fix the issue and tap Save again.
Cover image and avatar fallbacks
- No avatar set — A default icon appears (manga-themed icons in your selected color).
- No cover image set — A solid color block based on your selected color.
- Image fails to load — A placeholder appears. We’ll retry loading on next page open.
Cross-device sync
Profile edits sync to all your signed-in devices within seconds. If you save changes on your phone, your tablet will reflect them next time you open the app.
Profile completeness
There’s no required profile field beyond what’s needed for account creation. You can leave display name as your default, skip the bio, leave the avatar as the default icon — and your profile still works fine.
But if you want to be findable and recognizable by friends, fill out display name, username, and avatar at minimum.
